There's too many people that don't treat music with enough respect, and more as an accessory. I'm not just speaking of the masses of 12 year olds that are listening to whoever can lip-synch and dance at the same time either. If anything, it's not as bad for a kid, because they are, after all, just kids, and they can pull the naivety card if need be. But when a fully grown person who willfully listens to a nu-metal/rap-rock record or whoever has the most booty in their videos believes that is the best music today has to offer, then something's wrong. The stuff that's played on TV and radio isn't the only music that exists. There's tons of music in the world, it's just a matter of trying to experiment. I'm not saying one has to scour the world for something new, as there's likely an artist right here in North America that you've yet to discover and may like, and who might change your mind about the music you're currently listening to.
20 years from now, do you wanna look back and remember these offerings as the best our generation had to offer? Will you listen to the albums you're listening to today in 20 years, let alone 2 years from now? I'm already embarassed, because I don't want my generation to be remembered as the booty-shaking, mother-dissing, bubblegum pop act era.
