Just got back from a 7 hour downtown excursion with Ail, Joe, and Adrian. This was my first true trip downtown in god knows how long, easily over a year and a half ago I'd say, plus it was the first time I'd been on a subway since January 2001. By true, I mean being able to go to all the usual spots I'd check out before, and then some, as there's a bunch of new stores that are pretty cool. There's a nifty new store just off of Queen St. that has two floors, the lower being Japanese gadgets, and the top being the clothing section. The gadget floor is awesome, with stuff like Pocky shaped pencils/pens and sushi shaped candles, they've even got keychains that'll emit a sound if it detects sensors or cameras in your area, which I'm sure gets plenty of use from women in Japan trying to avoid all the pervs trying to get upskirt panty shots of them. Urban Outfitters had a Japanese fashion book, which consisted of tons of photographs taken of various people on the streets, very cool, shame it cost $45 though.
Our last stop was Kensington Market in Chinatown to check out some vintage clothing. I love Kensington, but by the time we got there my feet were screaming in pain from having to walk across a good portion of the downtown core, so I didn't look around as much as I'd have liked to. Even still, I found a track top and a shirt that just flat out rule. Good thing I did, or else I'd have bitched and moaned alot more down there if I went away empty handed.
Chinatown is pure madness, especially around the fruit/vegetable markets. We had to dive in to the chaos because of my dad's desire for some sapodillas and some other fruit I don't remember the name of. I can't believe my dad goes all the way downtown just to buy this stuff...eh, better him than me.
Bloody hell, my body feel's like it went through a sausage maker, I'm gonna go put my swollen feet in some ice water and cry.
