Sitting through the Grammy's just to see Coldplay (who does Chris Martin think he is... I'M a way bigger fan than he is) perform took plenty of will power in itself, but after watching them being followed up by That Little Girl and her limp act, something didn't sit right with me.
I'm not being a hater, and I'm not knocking her directly, or even pop music in general. I hate to categorize, cause if you're good, you're good, and if you're shit, you're shit, regardless of what genre it's lumped into, so long as that artist/band means it. Hell, it's not as if Coldplay's exactly what you'd call your typical rock band (don't even think of using that "Britpop" label shit either...), but man, do they ever mean it. You sure as hell can't fake a song like The Scientist. And I guess that's where my beef lies with That Little Girl and all these other dancing kids, no way in hell do I believe they mean it. How can you mean something you didn't even write yourself, in the case of a solo artist anyway? And if you're in a group with four other people and not one of you's writing anything, come on... so yeah, I guess what I'm goin' off about is that my music's gotta be real, and it's gotta have soul. Hence my devout worship of ol' Noely G And The Boyz (now THAT would've been an absolutely smashing name for a band), and Richard Ashcroft. The Brilliant Green's right up there too. I always get this feeling Noel would cream his pants if he heard their acoustic stuff. Absolutely adore it.
You guys should check out The Cardigans new album when it comes out at the end of March (in purchasable, CD form that is... what? Don't judge me, I'm buying it too). I put the first track up, check it. (Ya know, I just noticed Nina Persson and Tomoko "TBG" Kawase have got a similar voc vibe goin'. It'd be really close if one of them didn't have an accent... yeah, Nina needs to work on that.)
What?
Anyways, nothing new on the home front (har har...ain't I witty?), and my stone apparently finds it nice and cozy inside of me so much that it still hasn't left, so that's that. Solid.
